At first I see a scruffy old man with a ratty beard and gray hair. But then I look deeper.
Inside I see a man who loves kids! Inside there are heartaches, sadness, but also the ability to bring smiles to some folks.
Some folks are turned off by him! That is fine. Fine because they have not experienced the things that he has. They simply do not know what might lie ahead. They do not bother to look ahead even a short distance in front of them. He knows their fun and games could very well lead them to a crashing halt.
There is also a man who is a human being who can be hurt by unthinking people.
This man once had an impenetratable shell that others could not break thru. That shell was to keep others who might otherwise become close friends, at a distance.
Once that shell has been closed by someone it is very difficult for that someone to open it again, if not impossible!
I see a man who is sensitive to the hurts of others and who is willing to try to soothen those hurts.
There is a man inside who will not walk away from a difficult situation.

Sounds like a good person.
Can I look into that mirror?
Who do I see looking back at me?
I see a woman others don't understand. Someone who smiles even though she cries on the inside at times and yells at other times. Sometimes the smile is happiness too.
I see a woman who loves people, always wants to see others happy, even at the cost of her own happiness.
I see a woman who needs friendships, and doesn't like losing those friendships. When she does, she feels like she lost someone dear to her.
I see someone who loves animals and treats them like human beings. She bonds quickly, often at first sight.
She's also someone who loves children and hates those who hurt them in anyway.
I see a woman who hides her emotions and feelings in fear of getting hurt. She feels from experience although most don't see that.
I see someone who has a wild imagination, sometimes even frightning but never boring.
She's someone who can always make a person smile when they are feeling down because she's always sincere.
I see inocence but at the same time, someone who can have a devilish side. She's smart but not always smart enough.

This man studies others to try to understand what makes them "tick". If I can do that, then I can understand myself just a little bit better.
Most folks do not bother to understand the "why's" of their own behavior.
For example, Some folks are deathly afraid of dogs. They were never bitten by a dog or threathened by one. So why are they afraid? Have they seen something in a book or on TV maybe? Or have their parents expressed a sense of fear of dogs?
Recently one little kid, just a toddler, wanted no part of me. She allowed other people to hold her but not me. Somehow I must have looked different to her. But there was also another toddler who had no fear what so ever. I could hold this other little one with no problem.
OH WELL!
And then there are folks who cannot stand to be alone. Not even for a very short time. I am quite the opposite. Being alone gives me a chance to ponder the world around me. I can see the beautiful things that most folks simply overlook as being commonplace.

Yeah, I noticed that. Some people don't see it until they try to write a book. Since I began writing at 11, it was already a part of me. I watch people too, especially when my hubby and I go out. When we're at the bar or someplace else, we watch people interact with others. Sometimes, I find myself making up my own conversations as I watch them which can be a lot of fun. Its a lot of practice for my writing when my characters interact with each other.
