We went to the Tioga County Fair yesterday. We arrived there at about 8:00 am and left about 7:00 pm.
I dont suppose anyone would care to read what took place there however.

You're welcome to share if you want. We want to the Indiana State Fair but didn't stay as long as you did. A friend of ours went with us with his son.
We were there just a few hours and I got burnt. One of the cows there became a mama, she had a boy. We didn't see the event but we saw the baby just a couple hours afterwards. He was just lying there next to her. I took some pictures. I also milked a cow for the first time. Everyone was just getting one squeeze in but I did 5 lol. I thought it was cool. Billy took pictures but he didn't tell me my hair was messed up from the wind blowing it around lol.

For the last few weeks I have been trying to gather wood and hickory nuts. The squirrels have been nipping the hickory nuts off of the trees that are behind the house. They pop like fire crackers when the hit anthing metal.
for the last 3 weeks we have had to take Lu Ann to get a shot in her knee for the pain of arthritis. The shot is supposed to form a cushion around the knee joint. She may have to get a knee replacement.
We had an early snowstorm and it took many of the leaves off the trees. about a week ago. Last night the electricity went off. It was jus just about dark. We have some kerosene lantern and lamps where we can get to very easily. We just went to bed early. Power came back on after about two hours.
Our neighbor has walnut trees planted near the road. I told the neighbor lady, Linda, that I was gonna steal her walnuts. A few days later Lu Ann, Little Will and I did exactly that. But we also picked up a bushel for Linda. There are lots more nuts there on the ground.
All for today I guess

I have been a little lax in posting here for a few weeks. My wife Lu Ann has been having problems with her knee. On top of that one of her teeth became infected and needed to be removed.
It has been a bit of a hassle trying to schedule visits to both dentist and knee doctor and babysitting chores for our grandson Little Will. Will's other Grandmother also had a knee replacement during the same time period as Lu Ann's knee problem.
About 10 days ago we had our steer "Bar B Que," taken to the butcher shop. That little calf , "Bar B Que", was a project for Little will when we first bought him. Will would help feed him and water him until he became a little too big. "Bar B Que" grew until he was almost too much for Granddad, (me), to handle too. He wasn't mean or anything like that, just wanted to play. But he did not realize his own strength.
And how was your day?

This morning Lu Ann and I went after our meat. We had a steer butchered a couple of weeks ago. I just had a sample of steak. UUUMM GOOD! but it was nice an tender and tasty too. It was kind of a project for Little Will. He helped care for that little calf when we first bought it. He knew the day would come that we would have to butcher it. But he was upset when he discovered that his steer "Bar B Que", was gone. We told him that "Bar B Que" was visiting some of his cattle friends. Little Will is only three years old. He has a pretty good idea about raising chickens and other farm animals for food. Last fall we butchered a turkey that someone gave to us. Little Will helped to feed and water that bird. We have lots of wild turkeys wandering around our house and farm. As far as Will knows, his turkey is wandering with the wild turkeys.

Raining here today. Lilttle Will, his grandmother and I gathered up a couple of bags of walnuts a few weeks ago. I dried them. This morning I tried to crack some of them to eat. There was only one or two out of the dozen that I cracked that was any good.
Actually I would rather have butternuts. They have bigger meats in them. They grow wild here on my farm. The difficulty is that I cant get to them anymore. My legs are kind of wobbly and the trees are in very rough and hilly areas.
Oh to be young again!

Lu and I went shopping today. Everything went pretty good until we started back. We were about thirty miles from home. I could not shift into park. I sat there with the lever in nuetral and the hand brake set. When Lu Ann got back we started for home. I was able to back out of my parking space. But there were two more stops. The first was Puggies Pizza for a bite to eat. Again I stayed with the car. Now I could not shift into reverse. No problem. I only had to drive forward. Next stop was a feed dealership to buy cracked corn for our chickens. But I parked so I could drive forward when we left. I left the motor running while Lu ann went to see about the corn. Now I discovered that I only had two shift positions. I had neutral and drive. We started again and decided to stop at the place where we purchased our vehicle. Of course no one was there. Again I had parked where I could drive forward to leave. Next stop was home. We arrived home with no problem.
Tomorrow Billy will see if he can fiond the problem.I suspect that it might be in the linkage. Maybe a pin falling out or maybe a stone or some kind of article that has wedged itself in place. I dont know

Today is cold. A very hard frost is on the ground this morning. The furnace had burned all the firewood and there was only embers left. I came back in the house and got the cook stove started. my firewood is not quite dry enough to start easily. But I coaxed it along and now have a nice warm fire going. The furnace is heating now pretty good. I have plenty of wood now I guess or at least I hope so.
Deer season is still going but most of the hunters have left. Local hunters are out yet. I dont much care for out of area hunters. But this year there were not so many of them. High gas prices plus many of then were probably out of work and had a shortage of money.

One of our neighbors brought us a deer they could not use. Our freezer is full but we might make jerky from some of the meat. The rest will help feed our doggies.
Temperture is dropping tonight. Must be about 20 degrees I estimate
